Local Roosters

Two new paintings of roosters from South Newfane.  I have six hens and no roosters.  After having chickens for a couple of years I feel a bit of confidence and now wish I had a rooster.  But I want the nice rooster, the one on the right above.  He lived through a fox attack and was nursed back to health.  Now he lives in a protected area with two hens and seems very content even though he doesn't get to free range.

Maurice Sendak

Time to get my blog going again.  Had considered other blogs or not doing a blog and decided that I had things to share especially as so many exhibits and outdoor shows are coming up soon .

Maurice, 12"x6"

A new rooster painting that I am just about done with and wanted to show today because I named it in memory of Maurice Sendak.  I listened to an interview with him in the studio today with Robin Young from 2006.  They talked about childhood and why he was so frank and honest about scary things in the children's books he wrote and I think this rooster could of said those things.
